The Basics of Computer Protection

How does a computer get a computer virus?
A computer virus can be obtained from the internet; sometimes it’s not even intentional. Other ways viruses can be acquired is through removable storage devices such as a CD, USB drive, or a floppy disk. One way viruses can spread to other computers is by infecting files on a system connected to other network files that can be accessed by another computer. Nowadays with the internet spreading, viruses are much easier to catch. Other common places for a computer virus are e-mails, and instant messaging.
What can viruses do to my computer?
Viruses can hurt the computer in many ways. Here are some. Viruses can damage programs, erase files, or even reformat the hard disk. Sometimes the virus does not erase files; in this case they just multiply, which causes memory to shrink, and possibly lead to a computer crash.
This is bad because all passwords or other confidential information can be destroyed, and sometimes the virus might go to far and just obliterate everything before the user can do enough research to stop it. In other words, computer viruses spread fast and are disguised to us that is why software is needed to prevent harm to the computer.
How to get rid of a virus…
Well first if your computer is slow than usual and shows potential symptoms of a virus and you want to know how to get rid of computer virus, you probably need a latest version of some kind of anti-virus software. The most current versions of anti-virus software are capable of detecting, and also getting rid of computer viruses. Unless anti-virus software is updated some viruses like worms or Trojan horses (other more sophisticated viruses) may not be detected and removed. Many new viruses occur each day, ones that can be removed by common anti-virus software sometimes pre-installed on the computer, but updating is definitely the best way to go to stop these program destroyers from hurting our computers. The anti-virus software is made by companies who provide new anti-virus software as soon as a new virus becomes available. Another key to stopping these viruses is to avoid spreading through the virus emails.
Again you can remove a computer virus by regularly updating your anti-virus software and even if the anti-virus software is not able to remove the threat, at least the anti-virus software will detect the virus. In such a case other options available for cleaning the virus should be searched for. Also, if the virus can be determined, a specific anti-virus package available from the company or other website source may be downloaded and have the ability to knock that virus out.
